“We are building an implantable bioartificial kidney to treat patients whose kidneys have failed. The device uses a silicon membrane to perform many of the life-essential functions of a healthy kidney. The benefits to the patients are huge: no more damaging immunosuppressant drugs; no more dialysis; no more waiting for a donor organ to become available. Our dedicated team of scientists and engineers is building and testing the device in animals. We are working with the FDA and other partners to move it into clinical trials and onto the market, where it can bring new hope to patients and help reduce the costs of care.”
